I’ve been counting down the days until September, and I’m not even sorry about it. I’ve put together this whole fall bucket list because the second autumn hits, I’m all in on the cozy vibes. And honestly, if you’re not ready to dive headfirst into everything fall has to offer, this list is going to change your mind.
Fall just hits different. Those rich, warm colors everywhere, the air getting crisp, oversized sweaters, and yes, all the pumpkin spice lattes you can handle. It’s easily my favorite season, and I want to make sure I don’t waste a single day of it.
So here’s my ultimate fall bucket list. Some of these are outdoor adventures, some are cozy-at-home activities, and some are just straight-up treats. Pick a few, or try them all. Either way, I’d love to hear what fall traditions you can’t live without. Let me know in the comments what makes fall special for you.
1. Visit a pumpkin patch
This is nonnegotiable. Get out there, walk through the rows of pumpkins, feel that crisp air, and actually pick out one that speaks to you. Take pictures, grab a cinnamon donut, and soak it all in. You’re supporting local farms and getting those Pinterest-worthy photos in the process.
2. Carve pumpkins
Grab some friends, get messy with it, and carve something fun. Whether it’s spooky or goofy or completely unrecognizable, it doesn’t matter. What matters is watching it glow at night and feeling proud of what you made
3. Go apple picking
Spend an afternoon wandering through an orchard, tasting different varieties, and actually picking your own apples. Come home and make pie, crisps, or just eat them straight from the bag. It’s harvest season for a reason.
4. Take a hayride
There’s something about sitting on hay, feeling the cool air, and just watching the scenery pass by that just works. No phones, no rushing around. Just hayride vibes.
5. Go to a fall festival
This is peak fall energy. Live music, carnival games, way too many treats, and everyone’s in a good mood. Spend your whole day there if you want.
6. Have a bonfire
Roast marshmallows, hang out with people you like, and just sit by the fire as the sun goes down. This is when fall really feels like fall.
7. Decorate for fall
Pumpkins, leaves, anything that screams autumn. Make your home feel like fall. It’s that simple.
8. Make candy apples
Dip apples in caramel or candy coating and eat something that actually tastes good. No regrets.
9. Watch Halloween movies
Curled up with popcorn and a blanket. Whether you want scary or just fun, fall movies are the best.
10. Host a Halloween party
Invite people over, make a playlist, and celebrate. It doesn’t need to be complicated.
11. Try pumpkin spice everything
Yes, including the lattes. Yes, including the candles. No judgment here.
12. Visit a farmers market
This is where fresh apples, squash, cider, and all the seasonal stuff lives. Plus the people watching is great.
13. Get Lost in a Corn Maze
It’s silly and fun and you might actually get a little lost, which is half the charm.
14. Make fall soups
Butternut squash, pumpkin, chili. Something warm and hearty that fills your kitchen with an amazing smell. Comfort food season is here.
15. Take a nature hike
The leaves are changing, the weather’s perfect, and everything looks incredible. Go walk around outside and just breathe it in.
16. Buy some cute slippers
Your feet will thank you. Find a pair that makes you actually want to lounge around in them.
17. Drink hot chocolate
It’s warm, it’s sweet, and it just tastes better when it’s cold outside. Whipped cream is optional but recommended.
18. Go camping
The weather’s finally nice enough that camping doesn’t feel miserable. Sleep under the stars, sit by the fire, enjoy the quiet.
19. Eat candy corn
I know it’s divisive, but those little tri-colored pieces are a classic. Nostalgia and sugar in one bite.
20. Bake a pie
Homemade pie is worth the effort. Your kitchen will smell incredible and it tastes so much better when you made it yourself.
21. Jump in a pile of leaves
There’s something about the crunch and the chaos of it that just works. Do it while the piles are still good.
22. Start a scrapbook
Collect pictures from pumpkin patches and festivals and hikes and just put them somewhere you’ll actually look at them again.
23. Make a list of things you are thankful for
Fall slides into Thanksgiving season, so write down what you’re actually thankful for. It’s cheesy but it works.
24. Roast pumpkin seeds
After you carve your pumpkin, save those seeds. Toss them with seasoning and roast them until they’re crispy. Way better than throwing them away.
25. Do a Fall Photoshoot
Get your friends together, find some cute leaves or a pumpkin patch, and just take some pictures. You’ll want to remember this season.
26. Go horseback riding
The cooler weather makes it actually enjoyable. The scenery is perfect.
27. Try a new coffee shop
Find a cozy spot and make it your fall spot. Order whatever seasonal thing they have.
28. Host a Friendsgiving
Gather your people, make a feast, and celebrate together. It’s like Thanksgiving but with your chosen family.
29. Go shopping for fall clothes
New sweaters, scarves, boots. Update your wardrobe so you actually feel good in what you’re wearing as it gets colder.
30. Make S’mores
Graham crackers, chocolate, marshmallows over a fire. This is peak comfort.
31. Make boo baskets
Fill a basket with treats and goodies and leave it on someone’s doorstep with a little note. Spread some Halloween cheer.
32. Bake pumpkin bread
It’s warm, it’s spiced, it’s perfect. Slice it up, maybe toast it, enjoy.
33. Dress up for Halloween
Go big with a costume or keep it simple. Either way, get into the spirit of it.
34. Go to a drive-in movie theater
Bring blankets, bring snacks, watch something on a big screen under the stars. It’s nostalgic and cozy at the same time.
35. Wear Halloween pajamas
Why not lean into it? Make your downtime a little more festive.
So there’s my list. Pick the things that actually sound fun to you and skip the rest. Fall’s too short to spend it doing stuff you don’t actually want to do. Let me know what I missed or what you’re looking forward to most.
