This checklist is my solution to that. It’s basically a step-by-step roadmap that takes all the guesswork out of decorating. Whether you’re going full Hallmark or keeping things minimal and cool, this will walk you through the whole process and actually make it fun.
The best part? You can customize it to match your actual style. No two homes should look the same anyway.
Step 1: Prep Before You Deck
This is the boring but important part. Do this first and everything else gets easier.
- Clean and clear out your surfaces (mantels, shelves, tables, etc.)
- Pack away your fall decor so you have actual space
- Check that all your outlets, extension cords, and timers actually work
- Unbox your Christmas lights and test them (do this now, not later)
