20 Halloween Appetizers That Are Spooky, Fun and Genuinely Delicious

Looking for Halloween appetizer ideas? These 20 spooky and creative bites are perfect for a party, a family dinner, or just a fun Tuesday night in October. Every single one is easy enough to actually pull off.

Okay so I love Halloween food more than I probably should admit. There is something about turning a normal appetizer into something with eyeballs or fingers or a spiderweb design that makes cooking feel genuinely fun instead of just a task. The kids get so much more excited to eat vegetables when they’re arranged like a monster face. I get so much more excited to make appetizers when there’s a theme involved. Everyone wins.

The best part about Halloween appetizers is that most of them are honestly pretty simple. You’re taking things you already know how to make and just presenting them in a slightly spooky way. A few strategic olives become eyeballs. A little red sauce becomes blood. Suddenly your regular Tuesday charcuterie board has a whole personality.

These 20 ideas cover everything. Easy ones you can throw together in fifteen minutes, ones that are a little more of a project, sweet ones, savory ones, and a few that are genuinely impressive for a Halloween party.

Easy Halloween Appetizers You can Copy

1. Mummy Hot Dogs

Hot dogs wrapped in strips of crescent roll dough to look like mummy bandages, baked until golden, with two small candy eyes. Kids genuinely love making these with you and they taste exactly as good as regular pigs in a blanket, just with a costume on.

2. Deviled Egg Eyeballs

Classic deviled eggs with a single eye placed in the center of each yolk . Add a tiny squiggle of red hot sauce or ketchup around the eye for the bloodshot effect. Simple, fast, and always the first thing gone.

3. Guacamole With a Spiderweb

Regular guacamole spread into a bowl, topped with a spiderweb design made from sour cream piped in concentric circles and dragged with a toothpick to create the web pattern. Set a small plastic spider on top if you want to fully commit.

4. Candy Corn Cheese Ball

A classic cheese ball shaped and colored to look like a piece of candy corn, using orange and yellow cheese blends layered together with a white cream cheese tip. Serve with crackers or pretzel sticks for dipping.

5. Pumpkin Shaped Cheese Dip

Warm cheese dip shaped into a rough pumpkin form using a small bowl mold, topped with a cinnamon stick stem and a sprig of parsley for a leaf. Serve with tortilla chips or bread right away while it’s still warm.

6. Mummy Wrapped Brie

A wheel of brie wrapped in strips of puff pastry so it looks like a mummy, baked until golden, with two candy eyes near the top. Serve with crackers and let everyone break through the wrapping to get to the warm cheese inside. This is the appetizer that gets photographed before anyone touches it.

7. Jack O Lantern Stuffed Peppers

Small bell peppers carved with simple jack o lantern faces using a paring knife, then filled with a warm cheese and sausage or vegetable mixture and baked until soft. The carved faces make these look like actual little pumpkins on the plate.

8. Spider Deviled Eggs

Deviled eggs with thin strips of black olive arranged as spider legs on either side, and a small round piece of olive in the center as the spider body. More detailed than the eyeball version but genuinely stunning on a platter.

9. Skeleton Vegetable Platter

A vegetable and dip platter arranged in the shape of a skeleton using cheese for the skull, bell pepper for the ribs, and carrot sticks for the arms and legs, with a small bowl of ranch or hummus to the side. This one takes some planning but it’s the appetizer everyone talks about after the party.

10. Witch Finger Cookies as a Savory Twist

Dough or breadsticks shaped and baked to look like witch fingers, with a sliver of almond pressed into one end as the fingernail. Works beautifully alongside a marinara or jelly “dipping.”

11. Candy Corn Salad Skewers

Yellow bell pepper, orange cherry tomato, and a white mozzarella ball stacked on a skewer in that order to mimic the layers of a piece of candy corn. Fresh, colorful, and one of the easiest Halloween appetizers you’ll ever make.

12. Meatball Eyeballs

Regular meatballs served in marinara sauce, with a small piece of mozzarella and a black olive slice placed on top of each one to look like an eyeball floating in blood. Sounds a little much and tastes completely normal, which is exactly the joke.

13. Charcuterie Board With Halloween Details

Your usual meats, cheeses, and crackers arranged with a few Halloween specific touches. Cheese cut into pumpkin or ghost shapes with small cookie cutters. A few skeleton or bat picks placed throughout. Grapes shaped into “eyeballs” with a piece of blueberry pressed in. Small additions that transform a normal board into a themed one.

14. Wicked Witch Guacamole

This guacamole is getting a seriously spooky makeover! It’s such a fun addition to a Halloween appetizer spread and underneath all those spooky details is the guacamole everyone already loves.

15. Spooky Fruit Tray

This adorable fruit tray turns fresh fruit into the cutest little Halloween characters, from boo-nanas and Frankenstein kiwis to candy corn strawberries and silly monster apples. it’s colorful, kid fr-friendly, and the perfect lighter option to add to a Halloween party spread.

16. Toes in a Bandages

These creepy little “severed toes” are basically pigs in a blanket with a seriously spooky Halloween makeover. Cocktail franks get wrapped in flaky pastry bandages and topped with almond “toenails,” then served with ketchup for a bloody dipping sauce. They’re equal parts gross-looking and ridiculously delicious—and I guarantee they’ll be one of the first appetizers to disappear.

17. Spooky Spider Pizza Dip

This creepy crawly is one spider you’ll actually want at your Halloween party! Pizza dough is shaped into a giant spider with crispy Parmesan-covered legs, then filled with warm marinara for dipping. It’s cheesy, savory, and seriously fun to pull apart—and the little leg-shaped breadsticks make it extra perfect for a Halloween spread.

18. Witch’s Brew Dip

A green spinach or buffalo dip served in a small cauldron bread bowl. The green color alone makes it look appropriately witchy without any extra effort.

19. Jack-o-Lantern Buffalo Dip

Take everyone’s favorite buffalo chicken dip and give it a Halloween makeover! This creamy, cheesy, slightly spicy dip is baked right in a skillet and surrounded by little cheese-filled pizza dough bites, then finished with a cute jack-o’-lantern face. It’s warm, gooey, and basically guaranteed to disappear once you put out the chips.

20. Spicy Jalapeno Mummies

These spooky little mummies bring just the right amount of heat to your Halloween appetizer spread. Jalapeño halves are stuffed with a creamy cheddar and cream cheese filling, wrapped in flaky crescent-roll “bandages,” and finished with tiny eyes. They’re cheesy, spicy, and honestly way too cute to pass up.

Halloween appetizers are one of my favorite kinds of cooking because the theme does so much of the work for you. A little creativity, a few strategic olives, and a normal recipe becomes something that gets everyone talking and laughing at the table.

Happy haunting and happy eating.
